St John WA breaks new ground in first aid training

An Australian first will be revealed at Yagan Square this week by St John WA.

From 10am on Saturday October 13, Perth people will get the chance to try out First Aid Skills, a virtual reality where users are placed in an immersive illusion and guided through important first aid topics, such as the DRSABCD action plan and defibrillator use by MIA.

MIA, or Medical Information Assistant, is a virtual robot who offers step by step instructions throughout the training.An event has been created to give people the chance to try out the new training and see a range of other things from St John including experiential ambulance, crafts, a giant art installation, and food trucks.

In a unique promotion the lights at Swan Bell Tower, Elizabeth Quay, Trafalgar Bridge, Matagarup Bridge, Yagan Square, Optus Stadium will also turn red on the evening of October 16, which is Restart a Heart Day.

Red symbolises the heart and heart health and St John’s commitment to saving more lives by teaching CPR.

Date: 13-20 October

When: Saturday and Sunday, from 10am-5pm and Monday to Friday, from 9am-7pm.

Where: Yagan Square, Perth

What: It’s going to be an action-packed week full fun activities including our new VR first aid training system, live art installations, crafts, giveaways and more.
