Honouring volunteers at inaugural awards night
The dedication and commitment of volunteers were celebrated in style at the first-ever Joint Metro Volunteer Awards Night, held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Burswood on Swan.
With 128 attendees, including award recipients, guests, divisional managers and team members, the event brought together Community Transport Services (CTS), Event Health Services (EHS) and Youth and Community Engagement (YCE) volunteers for a well-deserved night of recognition.
Craig Spencer, Head of Volunteer Engagement, took on the role of MC, sharing his connection to volunteering through his role with Volunteering WA.
“Every hour a volunteer gives, every person they support, and every moment they spend helping others makes a difference,” he said.
“Whether it’s providing first aid at events, transporting people to vital medical appointments, or teaching lifesaving skills to young people, their impact is enormous.”
Darren Webb, Chief Community Officer, also shared his gratitude, highlighting the incredible impact volunteers have on the community.
“The strength of St John WA comes from its volunteers,” he said.
“Their passion, skill and generosity create lasting change, and every person in this room plays a vital role in supporting the community, and tonight is about saying thank you.”
The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with attendees enjoying the opportunity to connect across different areas of service.
A heartfelt thank you to all volunteers for their dedication and contribution.
