St John WA team members further their studies thanks to memorial scholarships

Press Release

St John WA Clinical Lead Simon Menz and District Operations Manager Brandon Reid are the latest team members to receive memorial scholarships.

These highly regarded scholarships are in loving memory of Tinesh Tamilkodi and Fiona Lavelle and are awarded to team members that embody their values.

By supporting individuals who share these principles, St John WA aims to extend the impact of Tinesh and Fiona, inspiring a new generation to lead with heart, think team, make things better, and walk the talk.

The scholarship recipients were selected by Tinesh and Fiona’s families – pictured above – alongside St John WA.

Simon’s scholarship is comprised of various activities such as conferences, travel fees and publication costs to support his PhD (Paramedic post-partum haemorrhage) which he commenced in 2023.

Brandon will be completing a Graduate Certificate in Leadership at UWA.

A scholarship valued at $20,000 is also open to applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking an eligible health sciences degree at ECU.

The scholarship will be paid to the successful student as $5,000 per semester for up to two years.

The scholarship reflects Fiona’s passion for lifelong learning and supporting the next generation of St John WA team members and as a living testament to the spirit and unwavering commitment demonstrated by Tinesh throughout his service to humanity as a member of the St John WA team.
