Shortlisted for AIM WA Pinnacle Awards

St John WA has been named a finalist in the Wellbeing Excellence category of the 2026 AIM WA Pinnacle Awards.

The Lifeline WA Workplace Wellbeing Excellence Award provides recognition for an organisation that has achieved outstanding results through key initiatives that demonstrate leadership and commitment to excellence in wellbeing management.

The nomination recognises the transformative impact of St John’s Wellbeing Safety and Injury Management (WSIM) team and their commitment to protecting, promoting and supporting the wellbeing of St John WA team members across one of the world’s largest ambulance service areas.

WSIM undertakes the unique challenge of supporting more than 8000 team members with cumulative operational exposure to trauma, violence and aggression, fatigue, critical incidents and other significant psychological demands.

Eighteen months ago, St John WA elevated psychosocial wellbeing from a support service to a core organisational safety priority, underpinned by the Psychology and Wellbeing Services (PAWS) program, which was modernised based on four pillars:

• Education and Training
• Clinical Support and Early Intervention
• Psychosocial Safety
• Post-Service Aftercare

Many aspects of the PAWS service was developed in partnership with frontline responders, communications officers, volunteers, peer supporters, leaders and regional teams, ensuring it reflected the realities of working across metropolitan, regional and remote environments.

St John WA has shifted from a largely reactive model of care to a preventative approach that gives leaders greater visibility of psychosocial risks and provides team members with more pathways to seek help.

Winners will be announced at the Awards Gala on 19 November.
