Action-packed Lights and Sirens Round kicks goals for emergency services

Press Release

Emergency services took centre stage at Optus Stadium on Sunday at the Fremantle Dockers’ Lights and Sirens Round.

St John WA (SJWA) joined the fun for the first time this year, sharing the spotlight with fellow everyday heroes from WA Police and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

The game was an opportunity to celebrate the frontline legends keeping WA safe and for the community to learn more about what they do.

A lucky few from each service got the opportunity to run out onto the oval before the starting siren, taking part in a guard of honour and coin toss in front of the crowd of thousands.

The stadium was abuzz long before bounce down, with the three agencies pulling out all the stops for footy fans of all ages ahead of the clash with the Gold Coast Suns.

Kura Bear made many fast fans as they roamed around the stadium posing up a storm alongside SJWA’s Youth and Community team.

SJWA has a long history of providing Event Health Services (EHS) to all AFL games played in WA, but the hardworking volunteers were this time the stars of the show as they went about their duties.

Find out more about volunteering with EHS here.
