Christmas joy to kids in need

Press Release
  • The St John WA Giving Tree project sees donated presents by the St John WA team given to kids in need through Anglicare WA
  • The partnership has donated more than 3000 gifts over five years
  • Gifts were collected at 10 locations state-wide from Kununurra to Albany

St John WA and Anglicare WA have continued a long partnership to support families and children in need over the Christmas period.

Continuing a heartwarming tradition, the St John WA team which comprises more than 7500 staff and volunteers across the state, donated a raft of brand new toys and gifts for children who might go without this Christmas.

The St John WA haul was handed over to Anglicare for distribution to families across the State facing financial hardship during the festive season.

In Perth, gifts were transported from St John WA’s Belmont headquarters to Anglicare WA in East Perth via ambulance.

St John WA, Group Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Brown, emphasised the significance of the Giving Tree partnership.

“These generous donations will mean hundreds of Western Australian children will get to enjoy opening a present on Christmas morning,” he said.

“Not only do St John WA people provide a vital community service, but they are often the very same people who lend a hand to those in need.”

Anglicare WA Chief Executive Officer Mark Glasson said, this year more than ever, families were doing it tough.

“The rising cost of living means more families are struggling to put food on the table and presents under the tree this Christmas,” he said.

“These gifts will bring Christmas cheer to children whose families are experiencing hardship.”

The partnership has run since 2018, with more than 3000 presents being delivered to kids in need.
