Daughter’s near-drowning prompts father’s first aid push
When Peter Lade’s nine-year-old daughter was pulled from the family spa earlier this year, it was a stroke of luck he had been trained in first aid.
Mahalia survived her near-death experience thanks to her dad knowing what to do.
The terrifying experience prompted Mr Lade to encourage others to learn vital first aid skills – an initiative St John WA was more than happy to support.
A free course was provided after Mr Lade joined up with The Fathering Project, with the event – designed to highlight World First Aid Day on September 10 – captured by 9 News Perth.
For the whole month of September St John has slashed 25 per cent off the price of popular first aid courses.

First Aid is a vital skill that can make a huge difference to someone who needs help while waiting for medical attention.
Nobody knows this better than the Lade family.
