Not made of rock: Keeping mentally safe on World Health and Safety Day

Press Release

First aid for mental health is just as important being safe in the workplace when it comes to going home to loved ones at the end of the day, a message reinforced at Bruce Rock Engineering on World Health and Safety Day.

St John Safe First Aid Specialist Glenn was a keynote speaker addressing how to ‘Mind Your Mate’ to about 150 Bruce Rock Engineering employees in Forrestfield on April 28.

Bruce Rock Engineering recently bought three St John WA Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) as part of its workplace safety provisions.

Glenn went on to ask how many people know where their AED and first aid kits were, and how many were first aid trained.

St John WA aims to deliver age-appropriate first aid training to every West Australian, young and old, as part of its commitment to building stronger and more resilient communities.

It offers First Aid for Mental Health courses and St John Safe assessments designed to improve workplace safety, as well as free quick online first aid tips tailored to trade workers via the St John First Responder App.

“A big thanks to St John WA and The Regional Men’s Health Initiative for coming out and sparking some real, honest conversations,” Bruce Rock Engineering spokesperson said.

“To everyone across the Bruce Rock Engineering team who got involved, thank you for your genuine and candid input and unwavering focus on what truly matters: making sure we all get home safe.”
