Six St John WA women recognised for international award

• Six St John WA women have been recognised by the Council of Ambulance Authorities as part of International Women’s Day
• WA winners are part of 60 ambulance award recipients in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea,
• Award winners revealed at IWD event with St John WA Chief Executive Officer Michelle Fyfe

Six members of St John WA were recognised for their outstanding contribution to ambulance services as part of International Women’s Day, including five employees and one volunteer.

The dedicated women were part of a 60-strong international cohort recognised by the Council of Ambulance Authorities which started the awards last year to highlight successful and hardworking women across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.



St John WA Chief Executive Officer Michelle Fyfe said she was proud the WA paramedics, officers and volunteers had been recognised, with their contributions spanning a range of roles from procuring critical personal protective equipment to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic to spearheading community resilience in remote and regional areas.

“The strength of our service is our people. We know women are a critical component of our employee and volunteer workforce, delivering care to people when they need it most. Combined, this team has delivered more than 110 years of service to the WA community through St John WA,” Ms Fyfe said.

Each award recipient was presented with a certificate and pin and has been invited to attend CAA Women in Leadership Forum in Sydney in 2022.
