St John WA has recognised Dr Andrew Moffat as Volunteer of the Year in Metropolitan Operations for his dedication and work with the Event Health Services’s Morley division.

Dr Moffat has demonstrated outstanding service over 13 years in Event Health Services by contributing a considerable number of hours clinically and non-clinically to Morley division.

Dr Moffat takes over the mantle from Glynn Thomas who was recognised for his contribution to Western Australia’s response to COVID-19. Dr Moffat was named  winner at the annual St John Experience recognition ceremony. The awards recognise sub centres and individuals across the state who go above and beyond to support the services St John delivers.

In his roles as Event Ambulance Officer, Volunteer Training Manager and Volunteer Development Officer, Dr Moffat engages more than 60 volunteers, inspiring them to provide exceptional high quality patient care.

Dr Moffat was admitted as a Member of the Order in 2019 and was acknowledged for his 10 years of service in 2018, having already been recognised as Young Volunteer of the Year with an illustrious Commandery Commendation in 2015. When not volunteering, he works in emergency medicine with South Metropolitan Health Services.

St John WA Chief Executive Officer Antony Smithson congratulated Dr Moffat for his shining example of dedication and leadership.

“Andrew is described as giving his ‘heart and soul’ to the Morley division, having dedicated more than 100 additional hours every year to mentoring fellow volunteers while excelling in his EHS duties,” Mr Smithson said.

“All those hours going above and beyond the call of duty are worthy of recognition.”

St John WA Manager of Event Health Services Bruce Rudrum said Dr Moffat worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure Morley’s success.

“Andrew actively talent sources within the division to ensure a strong and continual leadership at Morley and continually invests in his volunteers, professionally and personally,” Mr Rudurum said.

“Morley is a great division thanks to his incredible efforts and the time he and his committed team invests.”
