St John on show at Royal Show

Press Release

St John will once again be supporting WA’s largest annual community event, providing first aid support for the Perth Royal Show, as well as having an interactive display for patrons to enjoy.

St John Service Delivery Manager Sam-Tahlia Ford said the `Life goes on marquee’ will offer something for both adults and children alike with opportunities to learn lifesaving skills, have a look through an ambulance and learn about all things St John.

“Children’s activities include a colouring station, a ‘First Aid Heroes’ puppet show and puzzles with St John mascot Kura the bear,” Ms Ford said.

“We will also have a special custom built First Responder App wall, where patrons can try out the St John smartphone app on one of the ipads and download it on their own device using our free Wi-Fi.

Event health volunteers will be stationed at first aid posts around Claremont Showgrounds and anyone in need of medical attention is encouraged to seek out a first aid post.

“They’re able to treat people for a range of common injuries and conditions, but are also on hand to help manage larger and more serious incidents should they arise. St John’s clinical volunteers receive a very sophisticated level of training which allows them to effectively treat thousands of Western Australians at large-scale public events each year,” Ms Ford said.

St John has had a long held relationship with the Royal Show, providing first aid and emergency care to show-goers for an incredible 115 years.

The St John marquee will be located along the main Arena pathway from 22 – 29 September 2018 at the Claremont Showgrounds.
