St John set to help build a safer, more capable WA

Press Release

St John WA has launched new, responsive training programs helping WA businesses, communities and the future workforce build confidence and capability.

The new suite combines nationally recognised and industry-developed courses to strengthen workforce capability, boost emergency preparedness and address modern duty of care requirements.

Developed through consultation with business and industry clients, the programs build confidence, reduce injury risk and support safer, more prepared workplaces.

St John WA is expanding its training and education portfolio with industry endorsed and professional development programs that build on the organisation’s 134-year legacy of education and frontline expertise.

Best known for equipping generations with first aid skills, St John is broadening its focus to include advanced and workplace-specific capability programs — from clinical upskilling to critical response and leadership development.

The move marks the next phase of St John’s strategic transformation where wellbeing and lifelong learning are central pillars of its mission to serve all Western Australians.

Group CEO Kevin Brown said the new courses built on St John’s experience in providing people with the skills to respond when it matters most.

“This expansion takes that same practical, evidence-based learning approach and applies it to the modern workplace — helping people build confidence, competence and care in every environment.”

Among the first programs to roll out are:

The new courses allow St John to deliver targeted capability for the environments Western Australians actually work in — from remote industrial sites to community-facing roles and clinical settings — with further programs to be added as the model grows.

“This is a natural evolution of what we already do best,” Mr Brown said.

“Employers in resources, security, community safety and more are facing increasing expectations to demonstrate emergency preparedness and proactive duty of care,” he said.

“There is growing demand from industry to upskill their workers.”

The expanded course suite will continue rolling out over summer, with enrolments opening through St John WA Training.
