State-of-the-art Kondinin Sub Centre unveiled thanks to support from business and community

Press Release
  • More than 25 businesses and community groups came together to raise funds for the new build,
  • The new facility improves ambulance operations conditions with a dedicated space for crew training, development, and community first aid programs,
  • The Kondinin-Hyden Sub Centre has been providing care for around 60 years.

The new St John WA Kondinin Sub Centre has finally been revealed, marking a significant milestone in the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

This achievement was made possible through the generous support of more than 25 local businesses and community groups, who rallied together to raise funds for the ambitious project.

The new sub centre is a culmination of a decade-long process. The state-of-the-art facility for St John WA staff and volunteers now stands as a testament to the commitment of high-quality pre-hospital health care in the local community.

The cutting-edge depot is set to improve ambulance operations conditions and provide dedicated space for crew training, development, and community first aid programs.

Initiated in 2013, discussions to upgrade the Kondinin Sub Centre evolved into a decision to plan a new build following a thorough investigation and expert consultations.

This followed years of navigating approvals, conducting land surveys, and instigating major fundraising efforts.

The project’s realisation was only possible due to the generous contributions from organisations including the Shire of Kondinin, Kondinin CRC, Bendigo Bank, Bayer, CBH, and numerous other regional St John WA Sub Centres.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, St John WA’s Chief Emergency Officer Brendon Brodie-Hall expressed appreciation for the generous donations and lauded the collective efforts that culminated in the new state-of-the-art depot.

“For 60 years the Kondinin-Hyden Sub Centre has provided outstanding pre-hospital care and first aid training to the local community,” Mr Brodie-Hall said.

“The new facility offers world-class facilities for our staff and volunteers, meaning St John WA can continue to serve the community with the highest standards of care well into the future.”

“I would like to thank the Shire of Kondinin, Kondinin CRC, Bendigo Bank, Bayer, CBH and the surrounding St John sub centres for their financial support.Without business and community support essential projects like this could not happen.”

Chairperson Colin Muir acknowledged the collaborative efforts that made the new build a reality, extending gratitude to the volunteers, the local community, and major donors.

“The significance of having a facility like this, with high-class amenities for staff, volunteers and community members alike, will ultimately mean better health outcomes well into the future for the shire of Kondinin and surrounding district,” Mr Muir said.
