Dan Cramer named St John WA’s 2026 Dispatcher of the Year
Communications Officer Dan Cramer joined St John WA in 2022 during a particularly hectic period and quickly became a valued member of the team.
Now, he’s been named the 2026 St John WA Dispatcher of the Year.
A gentle and devoted father of two young children, Dan brings calm to the chaos both at work and at home.
“He generously shares his knowledge and care by mentoring students,” State Control Centre Shift Supervisor Melinda Johnson said.
“Dan consistently demonstrates empathy when managing callers’ emotions, particularly in situations where communication is extremely difficult.
“His colleagues are incredibly proud of his achievements and value the genuine and respectful way he consistently checks in on their wellbeing.”
The call that earned Dan this award is just one example of his ability to confidently navigate challenging calls, overcome communication difficulties and respond to changing scene circumstances.
Having mastered Rural Dispatch, Dan is currently completing his Urban Dispatch training.
Dan will now be nominated for the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) Dispatcher of the Year Award, competing against ambulance services across Australia and New Zealand.
He will also attend the IAED Navigator Conference in Adelaide in November, where he will gain insights through expert-led sessions, enhance his professional growth and connect with peers from across Australasia.
