St John WA named as finalist in Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards

Press Release

St John WA has been named as finalists in two 2024 Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards.

The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety run the annual awards which recognise outstanding solutions and innovations to specific workplace health and safety problems in Western Australia.

This year a record 89 submissions were received with 41 companies/or individuals recognised as finalists.

SJWA is a finalist in the Best solution to a work health and safety risk category for its Stryker power PRO stretcher roll-out, and paramedic Tiq Rehman (pictured) is up for the Health and Safety Representative of the Year award.

Last year, SJWA’s Rob Curtis was named Health and Safety Representative of the Year.

This year’s winners will be announced at the 2024 Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards ceremony on October 31 at Optus Stadium.

WorkSafe Commissioner Sally North said the awards were a great opportunity to have workplace safety and health achievements publicly recognised.

“The physical and mental health and safety of WA workers is the top priority for WorkSafe, and the Work Health and Safety Excellence Awards recognise organisations and individuals that make an extra effort to protect workers,” Ms North said.

“The awards recognise outstanding innovations and solutions to specific work health and safety issues in WA, and a wide range of workplaces are represented in this year’s nominees.”
