St John WA walks the green carpet to celebrate Paramedics television debut

St John WA team members traded their usual emergency calls for green carpet treatment as they joined cast, crew and hundreds of guests for the premiere of Paramedics at Luna Cinemas in Leederville.

The new season marks the first time St John WA paramedics and call takers have featured in the popular reality series, giving audiences an unprecedented look at the people and pressure behind some of Western Australia’s most challenging emergency call-outs.

For those featured in the series, seeing their work play out on the big screen was a very different experience from a normal shift in an ambulance.

The premiere brought together the St John WA paramedics and calltakers and their families and friends with the cast and production crew behind the series, as well as St John WA team members, supporters and special guests.

The series follows paramedics as they respond to emergencies across WA, capturing the split-second decisions, difficult situations and human moments that come with working on the frontline.

For St John WA, the series also offers viewers a rare glimpse into the skill, compassion and teamwork that goes into caring for patients on some of the worst days of their lives.

St John WA CEO Kevin Brown said the premiere was an opportunity to celebrate the team members who had opened the doors to their working lives and allowed cameras to capture the reality of the job.

“It was fantastic to see our people, their families and the incredible production team come together to celebrate the series,” he said.

“Being a paramedic and a State Control Centre team member is about far more than responding to an emergency. It’s about the people, the teamwork, the decisions made under pressure and the care shown to patients and their families.

“This series gives the community an opportunity to see that side of the job.”

Paramedics airs on Channel 9 from October 8.
